Default Weapon Attack Speed ? Will we ever see this information ?

Any ideas on whether we will have to rely on anal high school and college kids to figure out what the attack rate is or will they actually post it as part of the information on weapon ?

I have no idea about the difference between a horn bow and a long bow or a short sword or a PVP Sword. It seems like a mandatory difference in weaponry that we have to figure out on our own.

Have you checked the actual site? Missile Properties

I don't remember where to find the other weapon information, but swords and axes attack at speed of 1.33 seconds. Do some searching and I am sure you will find the answers.

The site has this information... yes. The game doesn't. That's the question, will we see this ?

to my knowledge, there has been no mention from the devs in interviews about making weapon descriptions more detailed.

1.33 sec. = Axe
1.33 sec. = Sword
1.75 sec. = Hammer
1.75 sec. = Staff
1.75 sec. = Wand
1.8 sec. = Shortbow
1.8 sec. = Halfmoon
2.0 sec. = Flatbow
2.4 sec. = Longbow
2.7 sec. = Composite
2.7 sec. = Dead Bow
2.7 sec. = Ivory Bow
2.7 sec. = Recurve

not sure if it is completely accurate however, I thought Axes were slower than swords.

I would hope not the fiery dragon sword is pretty much just a hilt the striking part is a magical flame so it better swing faster.

Man do I despise people who say... "Have you looked at the site? God!"... not everyone has the time to search for threads on the forum, or even read EVERY page and link on this site.

But, questions like, "What are the basic speeds on..." should be in a FAQ here on the forums... while questions like his, "Will we ever see this in the game?" is something completely different.

Ease up people!

I could swear the tribal swords appaer to hit more than long swords do. Maybe it's just an animation trick and the underlying mechanics remain the same.

Your dead right, and noone has posted a good answer to the question..

the best so far is someone saying that Swords do 1.33 seconds.

Different TYPES of swords DO have different attack rates.. whilst i dont know the timings here are my assumptions on sword rates..

Short Sword = fastest
Forked Sword = fast
Tribal + Butterfly = average
Triton = bit slower than average
Longsword = slowest.

This information is critically important for warriors.. as DPS (Damage per second) is more important that the weapons stats!

Whilst my forked sword only does 7-10 its quicker in frenzy mode than the long sword is.. also my Forked is ZEALOUS, so its faster at getting my energy... and more energy means I can do power attacks quicker... again long term I do more damage.

thats why I dont like axe's and hammers.. they do alot (or CAN do) but are so much slower that you dont actually do much more in the long run...

There must be ALOT of hidden stats like this to which we are not made aware.. not sure yet if thats a good thing or a bad thing.

Snowman.

how are people coming up these attack speed for weapons and ranges for bows????

stopwatches??
are they measureing the height of their toon, assuming he's 6 feet tall, panning the camera around, measuring the distance to the corpse, then estimating the range of the bow?

I'm not questioning the accuracy, people can be amazingly anal when they want to, but i would really love to see some time-stamped combat spam in the game...or better yet...list the speed and range when you view a weapon.

Takes all the stopwatches, rulers pressed against monitors, and guessing out of it.

Well has anyone confirmed this, meaning they've gone out and tested it? Have I missed the topic where this info is in?

No, melee weapons have the same attack speeds.

Swords and axes 1.33
hammers 1.75

I think it was Diablo 2 that had this system, but I forget cuz I haven't played it in so long. But I remember the weapons had a basic "speed" attribute (slow, fast, fastest, etc.). This would be nice in this game as it would lend toward a new upgrade you could add for your weapon. If all weapons had a basic attriute that went with it like, fast, slow, fastest. Then you could easily tell what weapons would give you the most damage output. This could also mean that you could make some of those slower weapons a small boost in speed (maybe one step up from what their current swing speed is) with an upgrade. Then again, this would probably pose a HUGE imbalance in the game....I can only imagine it with Hammer warriors running around with lightning quick swing speed, ACK! Plus weapons like the short bow might become useless with long bows being able to shoot faster. So scratch that idea!!

But, the visual of the swing speed on the weapon description would be nice atleast.

Snowman.

All of this information is wrong, all swords hit at the same rate, and do the same damage. That's why we said it. They hit 3 times in 4 seconds, same with axes.

All swords and axes have the same attack speed. This is a no brainer. Otherwise the faster ones would obviously be better as they all have the same base damage. oO Common sense yes?

Likewise with hammers. The only reason bows are different speeds is because they also vary in range and flight time.

so what were basically saying is that different weapons are for aesthetics only then?

Why do bows have different ranges/shot rate then? No brainer, i thnk not?

answers on postcard please?
